IN 2004, THIS 14 BUILDING CONDOMINIUM COMMUNITY ON PENSACOLA BEACH WAS DIRECTLY IMPACTED BY HURRICANE “IVAN” SUFFERING SEVERE WINDSTORM AND FLOOD DAMAGE – DANTE R. FABBRO, P.C.L.A. NEGOTIATES AND SECURES $4.6 MILLION DOLLAR SETTLEMENT ON BEHALF OF THE CONDOMINIUM ASSOCIATION
In 2004, Hurricane “Ivan” devastated Pensacola Beach. As a result, Villas on the Gulf Condominium Association, a 14 building community situated on the beach in Escambia County, suffered a direct blow causing catastrophic flood and wind damage. 4 buildings were completed destroyed and washed away by floodwaters and the remaining 10 suffered substantial wind and flood damage. The Association Board of Directors retained Dante Fabbro, P.C.L.A. to manage both the flood and windstorm claims.
After navigating through complicated issues surrounding association vs. unit owner coverage, flood vs. windstorm damages, and potentially costly coinsurance penalties, a successful settlement exceeding $4.6 million was reached. During the process, dozens of on-site meetings and inspections were conducted and numerous board meetings attended to keep the association and its members actively engaged throughout the claims process.
This was another example of a policyholder taking immediate action to retain professional representation before allowing complicated issues to derail the claim and negatively impact claim results.
